Designed by Bates Smart, Melbourne’s 60-storey Collins House is the most slender tower in Australia, rising 184 metres on a 480m2 site which equates to a slenderness ratio of 16.5. By comparison, the world’s most slender skyscraper has a slenderness ratio of approx. 24.

Australia’s First Double Helix Bridge Opens in Sydney

It’s the first double helix bridge in the world to have a dilating diameter - getting larger over the supports (where bending moments are higher) and narrower midspan (where moments are lower) - whilst each steel plate used to make the box sections varies in thickness depending on structural demand to reduce dead weight and material consumption.
